Gyspy Fair

$550.00

Dennis Wraight

I have always loved country markets and for many years have sold my jewellery, old tools and other treasures in both Australia and New Zealand. I now live in a rural town in Manawatu and spend many happy hours in my workshop tinkering, fixing and creating. I am well-known in the community for my Aladdin's cave of treasures (my wife calls it junk!!) and have become a repository for others' unwanted stuff. From my extensive collection of old Singer sewing machines I have created this ute towing a gypsy caravan - the closest I will get to actually being a gypsy. The ute is made from a sewing machine with bits cadged from my workshop. The caravan is a sewing machine cover and was particularly enjoyable to decorate using bits and pieces from my forgotten jewellery supplies. I really enjoy the process of creating an art form from things that would otherwise end up in landfill.
